New tasting room born from deep vintner roots

They have been making the wine at Per Bacco Cellars in San Luis Obispo, and they have been sharing a tasting room for two years with Edna Valley's Saucelito Canyon Vineyard.

They also bought 130 acres on Orcutt Road in Edna Valley, where they plan to build their own winery and tasting room, but the progress has been slow.

"It's going forward," Ortman says, "like the world's slowest train."

"We both grew out of the Saucelito space," Lisa Ortman explains, "and since Orcutt Road wasn't happening, we thought we better find a new space."

Even though the new tasting room is small — only 700 square feet — it's enough room to showcase all their wines.

The new location, just a block and a half from Paso Robles Park, is ideal.
